Life Line - 10 Years Later

Most people don't know this, but I've released a total of 10 projects over the years. In fact, from 2002-2011, I released a CD every year. Some of those were soft releases that I gave only to my friends and family, and others were large-scale releases made available to everyone. Only one of those CDs, however, was copyrighted, published and distributed: Life Line: Local to Major. To this day, it remains one of my personal favorites.

Never heard of Life Line?

Life Line was a producer/rapper group with Big Griff "on the beats" and, obviously, myself providing rhymes. Griff had produced for multiple Tallahassee artists over the years (Nu Davelopment, Y, King Rod, etc.) so I was well aware of his talent. Overtime, he and I became good friends and quickly developed an artistic chemistry; Life Line was the product of that chemistry.

On December 7, 2007, we released "Life Line: Local to Major" which, to this day, remains the only CD I've ever published and distributed digitally to iTunes and other online music retailers.

Life Line was an extremely important milestone in my music career, and an even more important era in my life. Collaborating with Griff, The Watchman, J-Prid, and others produced a growth and maturity in how I approach my music. We shared long, detailed conversations about music, theory, and theology. Those conversations changed my view of rap as merely a passion and hobby, and shaped it into a ministry to share the gospel. I learned to value artistic input from talented people whose opinions may differ from my own, and I believe I'm a better artist and person because of it. Those conversations took place a decade ago but they continue to influence my vision and how I approach music to this day.

Appropriately enough, at the end of this 10-year anniversary month, I'll be releasing my first project on iTunes since Life Line (now available here). I feel like my growth and development since Local to Major is apparent on the upcoming record, and that growth is due, largely in part, to my time in Life Line.
