6 Years

A lot can happen in 6 years.

Think about it, 6 years ago, in 2010, Steve Jobs introduced FaceTime with the iPhone 4. The 2010 NCAA football season was Jimbo Fisher’s first year as FSU’s head coach. It’s the year we learned a Double Rainbow could be so weird.. I mean great! And, much less notably, October of 2010 was when I released my last project, The Anomaly. It’s been 6 years since I last released a CD… Since that time, I’ve graduated college, had three different jobs (by choice), lost friends, made some FSU anthems, performed around the country and overseas, married the love of my life, moved to Nashville, and plenty more I won’t bother to mention here. I’ve done what everyone has done: lived life. But amidst the rush of life and life-changing experiences, less obvious changes were occurring underneath the hood. Doubt crept into my heart. Fear grew within my mind. That fear and doubt produced uncertainty that replaced resilience with reluctance. It replaced boldness and confidence with apprehension and hesitancy. It produced an uncertainty that prevented me from continuing to progress in my passion, cultivate my craft, and pursue my dream. A lot has happened in 6 years, and I feel an obligation to share it with you. I refer to those 6 years as my Exile, and I’m going to share it with you the only way I know how. As Christ followers, we all have a responsibility to share the Good News (Matthew 28:1). How we choose to share that news will inevitably vary, based on our different blessings and gifts. We all have a calling. Maybe you’re like me, maybe you’ve been holding back. Maybe fear or doubt, or both, have had you paralyzed. Maybe you’ve been waiting because you felt like you weren’t ready, you felt like you weren’t qualified or adequately equipped. I want to reassure you that, regardless where you are in life, you are ready (Philippians 4:13). I want to encourage you to answer your calling. I’m gonna answer mine. It’s been 6 years. The time has finally come for me to answer His calling. Exile is coming.
